ETUC General Secretary Esther Lynch emphasize in her greeting, that FinUnions have been a vital voice ever since Finland joined the EU, ensuring workers concerns are heard loud and clear at the European level. "It's a real honour to celebrate 30 years of FinUnions, 3 decades of tireless advocacy, solidarity and commitment to defending the rights of Finnish workers in Brussels and across Europe. Thank you for your outstanding contribution to our European trade union family".
Esther Lynch's Greeting to FinUnions
Trade Unions and workers across Europe are calling for shorter working hours and more flexible work arrangements to improve work-life balance, health, and productivity. At a recent seminar held on 12 June in the European Parliament researchers presented findings from the EU-funded INNOVAWORKING project, which explored innovative working time practices in six countries (Ireland, Spain, Finland, Hungary, France and the Netherlands). The Finnish case study, presented by Professor Minna van Gerven of University of Helsinki, focused on the HOREACA and Health and Social Service Sectors. Flexible work arrangements through regulation and collective bargaining
The ETUC gathered earlier today trade union activists and civil society representatives for a protest against the European Commission’s omnibus package. Isabelle Schömann, Deputy General Secretary at the ETUC, pointed out that the omnibus legislation is nothing less than deregulation. What is at stake here is the protection of workers, human rights throughout the supply chain, and the protection of the environment. “If you want to be competitive in the European union, you have to have good working conditions for workers, in and outside the supply chain”, Schömann said.
